hi -

is a gehrkens 1941 belt (no mm heer buckle) scarce; do people even collect belts by maker or just buckles? I can't find anything on this maker for belts, just other equipment like holsters and ammo pouches.

This would not be unusual... this manufacturer, Gehrkens, was most likely a leather supplier dealing in pouches, backpacks, belts, pouches, buckle tabs, helmet chin straps, etc...
