    Edelweiss buckle?

Never seen something like this before, a WH buckle with an edelweiss instead of the Haken Kreuz...presumably fake, or am I wrong?
    Thanks,

These are unually a overstamp of an original buckle. Look closely at the vertical lines and you should be able to see the wings from the original eagle. Most collectors think was done post war. Kirby

      Hi Kirby,
      Thanks very much!!!
I can see the eagle in your picture
So provided that the overstamp is postwar the paint should be postwar as well, shouldn't be?
Anybody has more info on this buckles? I find them more and more interesting with Kirby's info
      Regards,
      Ace

        Edelweiss Buckle

        Hi all,

most books titled them as "Ex- Wehrmacht, overstamped after 1945 for the use within the Bavarian Police". Hope this helped.

        Best regards

        Reiner

Apparently these buckles, and all early post-war buckles, are very difficult to come by nowadays and costs have elevated due to the low supply. I believe they are restamped wartime buckles.

Would love to have one as well!

Militarycollectablesinc. Had one of these listed at $750. More than I think it is worth but the only one I have in 10-15 years. Kirby

reinermb42 is correct. Overstamped and overpainted after the war.
This one puzzled me in 1974 and after research it was told what it was by employees from the Overhoff-concern.
