III Reich Buckles How Do they Work?

Hello All, I was looking an a recent addition to the eStand and finally curiosity has got the better of me. With the III Reich Buckles that had the little Leather Tab attached, how did these become belts? Did the owner have to cut off the leather tab before having the buckle sewn to the full sized belt? Or was the tab incorperated into the belt?

How did the buckle attach itself to the other side of the belt? Our modern day belts have holes in the leather so what did they have?

Any photos would be greatly appreciated. This is a question I have had in the back of my mind for some time and now I am just too curious!

    Thanks to all!

    Buckle Attachment to Belt

    Shane,

Here is how it works. It is a rather ingenious mechanism for adjusting the length of the belt. The tab stays with the buckle as you can see but is not attached to the belt directly.

Works beautifully. I hope this helps.
