    HJ buckle-M5 marked

    Hi fellas
Received this buckle a few weeks back (thanks Adam),just thought I'd share it everyone.
There have been a few threads started about these particular buckles that were once presumed to be a fake, but not.
Seen one recently with the shrouded prong bar, apparently a later production.
    Anyway hope you enjoy it
    Regards
    Spike

      Hi, Spike

Nice to see the buckle again and in it's appreciating new home Klein & Quenzer was really very idiosyncratic with their "M5" designation and also with the placement of the markings on this buckle...against RZM regulations, I believe. I'm not sure if the shrouded pin version is a later construction or not. Chad Williams is an expert in this area and perhaps he'll know more if he sees this thread. Here are images of the other M5/276 marked KuQ buckle, painted in die-stamped zinc.

      Best,
      Adam

Hi guys.. nice buckles that you have both shown!!
Adam, thanks as always for the vote of confidence
K&Q seemingly marked their buckles outside of the rzm regulations in both placement and the marking code itself..
if you find a stamped steel by this maker , with the factory rzm tag attached, the paper tag will be ink stamped M4/115 !!!
but the rzm tags were issued directly to the manufacturer by the rzm.. so it leads me to believe that the rzm possibly ink stamped them before delivery to the manufacturer I will try and post some additional pictures this evening of an example with the post shroud and one with a paper tag
by the way, the die struck zinc buckle which Adam has posted is a beauty, and quite rare!!
          Chad

I just saw this Treat and thought I could learn from you guys. I have this particular buckle that you are talking about in my collection. This was made by Klein & Quenzer? Are these pretty common? Thank you for your help. JME

It is strange to see the M4 as well as the M5 markings.
