Buckle Help Please Hk

I am trying to educate myself more about buckles. Just received this buckle with belt, and am certai it is Heer, but a friend says it is definitely a Kreigsmarine buckle. If it is, how can you tell? It is steel construction, HK marked. Appreciate all comments, thanks!

Without the KM eagle and M stamp on the tab, your buckle cannot be considered as a KM buckle. I have the same buckle in my collection and although I cannot see what the colour of your buckle is, mine is black. This would indeed make some collectors think the buckle is KM related but there is no evidence of this. Dark bleu and black paint do not necessarily refer to KM items. The KM had gold buckles and the costal artillery had green buckles with a KM stamp on the tab.
