    WH Chromed

    Hey fellas
Got this buckle earlier this year, crying shame some clown has chromed it and the hook.
I know you are supposed to leave things as you find them, but something needs to be done to this one.
My question to the WAF is do I de-chrome it,do I paint it,do I leave it?.
I'm not too sure what I should do,all opinions welcome.
Also is the catch original to the buckle?.
    Thanks fellas
    Spike

      Spike,

I think to de-chrome the buckle means a lot of work and a new paint job will not improve the situation. Please note that other Heer buckles in untouched and good condition are not to expensive. I saw yesterday a very nice tabbed Dr. Franke Heer buckle on E-Stand and it was priced with $75!!

Leave it as it is what it is: A negative example of post war treatment!

BTW, the hook fits very well to the buckle.

      Regards,
      Guido

I agree with Guido and you can trust that he most certainly knows what he's talking about. A very similar situation to your HJ...did they come together?

        Best,
        Adam

          Hi Spike,

I echo what my colleagues have said.
De-chroming will achieve no advantage .

Heer buckles are among the most common and original examples are still found at acceptable prices.

Move on and treat the HJ and this one as learning tools.Even though Post war enhanced , they are still decent examples to learn construction characteristics from.

            Agree with other members.

I also have a chromed Heer RODO and I leave it as is.

            Greetings
            brus

The HJ buckle I've had for a few years and didn't come with the WH buckle.

              Kind regards

                Hi all

Well I finally decided to dechrome the buckle and paint it.
I know it well never be in an original state, but I think it is better painted than chrome.
All I have to do now is scuff it up a little so it looks worn in the right places.
                What does everyone think.

                Regards
                Spike
