despite bad construction, the buckle can be good.
Is it marked on the rear at center of the swaz?
From the picture I can't see...

I lean towards original as well..I just don't like it. Police buckles are not scarce. Why buy a bad looking buckle when there are beauties out there for not much money?

I would buy the buckle for 20 E , dip it in paint/rust remover and repaint it. I would not do this to a buckle that did not need it but that one needs it!

Sure is not the best police buckle you can find, however 20 euro is a good price...
just a light cleaning and the buckle will become more beautifull, I would leave the buckle as is and not repaint it (IMHO).
