    Early SS Officer's buckle

    Hi all
I am not versed in these and would really be appreciative for any opinions? It claims to be a very early SS officer's buckle. Although it looks rusty it is not magnetic and according to what i have read is supposed to be made of Nickel silver? Why it is this color I have no idea? Thoughts welcome
    Thanks

        Steve,

indeed, it is early officer belt buckle made of nickel silver. Its coloration is because of its condition. The dark coloration is caused by chemical proces which is effect of bad state of preservation and Cu which comes out from the alloy. It makes it darker and covered by patina.

        Cheers,
        Blazej

I think you have a good one, but these are tricky, and there are those that are far better versed in telling so . . .

Look closely at the bottom of the rear-side of the buckle . . . I think I see something similar to what is marked on this one (borrowed from another thread on this forum).

It is an original early nickel ss officer buckle with the same marks as the one posted in the last picture.

I can also say that the keeper is original to the buckle.

It was ground dug hence all the pitting, but still a neat piece,

I agree, it´s an early known original Version of the SS Fuhrerkoppelschloss, I think from the mid 1930´s. It´s obviously a ground find, nothing wrong with it and a very attractive original Piece

                Kind Regards
