I do not like the edition.
Also the soldering terminals look aged artificially.

I have seen many fake buckles and this one is no fake or aged artificially. You can't fake the wear and patina this one has.
It is also made correctly. The prongs are cut correct and the hook bale is soldered on right. I can't find one thing that makes me think this is not a period buckle. The roundel is good nickle. The brass is as it should be. The shaft ball holding the prongs is not overly large as most fakes but very small. The belt prongs are soldered on exactly as they should be.
Nope, this is as good as they get except for the condition, a little rougher than most collectors prefer but hey..it's a rare one. I would buy it. .

I know that the buckle is in heavy use condition but the challenge nowadays is to get a real one

Both are really rare. Not possible to answer this question except knowing the exact number of soldiers in each "land" from the era.

Hi all,

I'd agree the box of this buckle is 100% original, not so sure about the Meck roundel though. The three 'melding into each other' pebbles in the upper right-hand field are the clue to identify a known fake of the Meck roundels. The copious scratches on the obverse would seem to indicate an original (probably Prussian) buckle having been massacred to sex it up (lift the original roundel, stick a new one on with super glue, and a rarity is born). There seems to be some intentional damage ("wear") around the pebbled area of the roundel to disguise the faulty moulding, which is not consistent with overall wear on the roundel.

BTW, Strelitz should be much rarer than Schwerin, but both peacetime contingents having been very small (only Strelitz's much smaller in comparison) after all this time it wouldn't make much of a difference.

Why does there have to be a bogy man under this bed? Your analysis without an in hand inspection is pure speculation based on fantasy.

I have no vested in this buckle...other than I wish it were mine. I fail to see the buried mines under the roundel that you do...
