I got this from my grandfather who allegedly stole this, along with a belt, a psitol, and a HJ knife from a SS soldier in Denmark. I had forgotten all about it untill it turned up going through some old stuff.
The swastika has been "melted"/destroyed by my grandfather (as a communist resistance fighter he wasn't very fond of it), and it has some rust on it.
I don't know much about buckles, as I only collect medals, but as far as I have been able to find out, this is an EM/NCO SS buckle. It looks like a pressed steel version (please correct me if I am wrong), and it looks as there has been some kind of paint or coating on the steel.
Can anyone tell if I am on the right track, and if it is in fact the real deal (I would be surprised given the history of the item).
