Officer Belt w/ Cross strap

Hello,

Just posting up a quick shot of an officer belt w/ cross strap for review. I know the pic is not good so I will try to get more up shortly, unless it is a one looker. Any opinions?

Cross strap is matching. Anyone have any more info on these- are they rare?; If I'm correct they were phased out early in the war because it helped snipers single out an officer?

I'm not so sure if cross-straps were eliminated because of snipers being able to identify them or it was a wartime measure to conserve leather. I do know that snipers were able to identify officers by their higher boots and riding pants. Also, officer's shoulder boards were oftentimes covered with cloth sleeves to confuse potential snipers.
