The buckle looks OK but I don't like the reverse cut prongs. kirby

Those prongs don't look good to me.

I agree that the prong cuts are unusual but I've got one buckle of the same type that has the same feature. Probably same maker.

            100% original

Thnaks, guys. I am very comfortable with this dealer. He has offered this as part of a trade, and I'm going for it.

Simon did hit the point : at first sight those prongs look very similar to the infamous OLT type, but they are perfectly legit.
Looking at them under magnification the differences with OLT repro are obvious, btw I suspect Assmann is behind that buckle.

Page 123 of Angolias Belt Buckles & Brocades of the 3rd Reich..bottom photo shows the reverse cut prongs if you look close. He dosen't mention this in the description but there it is.

You will find the exact same style of prongs used on m4/49 HJ buckles. You will also find them on other buckles as well.

As said under close inspection the difference is clear. One prong has an under shear on one tip and the other prong is actually sheared on one side of the tip.
These are not the typical "reverse cut" prongs, associated with repros. Those are a different animal.
