Rubber belt-Help please

    Rubber belt-Help please

    I just got this belt and buckle today.
    The funny thing is, that the belt is made of some sort of rubber. You can se that the belt is old and it shows some wear.

    The mann who gave it to me, told me that he had had it for 40 years.
    I have never seen this type before.
    Field made or What??

    It looks like a EM dress buckle and a C. Riese rubber belt, RIESE also made rubber bayonet frogs..Both belt and frog are quite hard to find, any markings on the belt...wfg

      "Gummi" strap

      I agree with Bill, insofar as the buckle being a somewhat standard, private purchase Army.

      The rubberized textile strap however is interesting.

      Have seen this strap before with Police and Hitler Jugend belt buckles. I wonder and due to the strap having been reduced in size, if it was once with a HJ belt buckle.

        I have not been able to find any markings on the belt.
        The total length of the belt is 93cm.

          I have a belt exactly the same with a HJ buckle.the belt does appear rubberised but it is split and you can see it is actually rubberised paper/cardboard.Typical late war,ersatz type construction where all scraps of material was recycled for production.

          My buckle is a KH marked steinhauer and luck type(probaly 1935-36),not a late war buckle.My belt and buckle obviously met up some stage late in the war.

                  rubberized belts

                  I've seen the rubber with fabric core belt with an HJ Flakhelfer uniform many years ago. I have a Wehrmannschaft rubber belt and buckle--the belt retains it's RZM label. I was under the impression that these were mainly used for non-front line troops, but I guess, late in the war, anyone who needed a belt or replacement belt could use one.

                    Do you think that the SA Wehrmannschaft buckle and the rubberised textile strap have always been as one ?

                    Is there any possibility of an image of the strap with RZM label ?

                    Although these straps do appear to have a rubberised inner, I am sure that the outer coating was merely an attempt to create a leather, rather than a rubber look.

                      rubberized belts

                      I'll post a photo as soon as I can find what I did with it--I know it's here somewhere.
                      I don't know if it was a set originally, however, by the time the rubber belts were used (I assume later in the war) not many organizations other than the SA Wehrmannschaften used a box buckle with a brown belt, and this was a brown one.
