    Rare marked WH buckle

    Hi guys,
I am not a buckle collector , so don't shoot me when I am saying weird things about this buckle.

This buckle turned up with a guy who is selling Russian dug up items. It is a regular iron WH buckle, but the marking looks rare to me. I haven't seen it before in my 20 years of collecting militaria.
I think it says CTD 1941 or OTD 1941 it could also be 1944, but it is not very clear. The figures are ON the buckle, so they are not stamped IN it but probably welded with the buckle.

My question : is this a rare marking or common and what does it stand for ???

    Thanks !

      Ctd 1941

      Werner

Wehrmacht is not really my forte, although I assume that CTD is the logo abbreviation for Christian Theodor Dicke of Ludenscheid.

A well known belt buckle manufacturer, although I am unsure as to whether this dated logo on an Army buckle is rare.

      Regards,

      David

Hi Werner I would agree with David's comments. Here is a detail from a DAK web tabbed buckle in my collection.

        Cheers, Ade.

          Thanks

          Thanks Ade & David,

I must say the CTD on your buckle looks more like OTD to me Ade .
Anyway I am not going to keep the buckle, but now at least I know what I am selling !

            Ctd

            Hello all,
It is indeed CTD 1941 -- Christian Theodor Dicke 1941. I have a brass-plated steel Kriegsmarine buckle stamped CTD 1942 and DAK buckle with web tab with CTD 1941 marks. While not super rare, these buckles don't turn up that often.
            Regards,
            Kevin
