Hello Marc,
What do you think is the purpose of the elongated brass buckle with the Gott mit Uns/iron cross motif? I have a similar one with a belt as well. No markings at all. Could it be a private purchase buckle from the 30s/40s/50s for veterans of WWI?

Hello Kevin,
Glad to see someone else has the same buckle. The buckle is definitely a period buckle. Not post WWII. I would guess probably a 20’s or 30’s veteran association private purchase buckle. Not much research has been done on the subject yet but this design and other similar designs with iron crosses are mentioned in German catalogues from the 1930’s. Always as 45 mm tough, I have never seen the long one mentioned.
The construction of the prong bar and prongs are typical of the 1900’s until early 1930’s.
I have two more of these buckles with iron cross inset. A normal 45m/m and a 35m/m.

That Stahlhelm Landsturm is a wonderful buckle, even though not Imperial of course - thanks for sharing this!!
Do you also have the steel field grey Landsturm buckle with the eagle? If so, do you think you post pics of that one as well?
