The leather tab is indeed not for this buckle or not made for this buckle or not placed on this buckle at factory. BUT it does not mean this leather tab was not placed on this buckle pre-1945!
Leather tabs were placed on SS buckles by their owner, following their own preference to suit their own need. So nothing from factory, not a very common practice but still done from time to time. Such modification does not increase the buckle value and does not decrease it either.

Thank you for the explaination as it seems to have been there for a long time. But its about the buckle for me as that is why i chose this buckle. The tab was just a bonus??

Tab has been hand sewn to the buckle. He missed a couple of stiches.

I can remove the tab from the buckle. It is very dry so to speak but shows wear in places that is has been on there for a long time.

Very nice haul, HDM! Both SS buckles and SS dagger are very nice indeed. As already stated, enlisted SS buckles were not originally provided with supporting leather tabs. Even though the tab did not come with this buckle it is none the less very much original.

Hey guys! I need some advice regarding the NCO buckle. I have not been following these as much lately. Given the economic situations, what would be a decent value on this buckle? It may find it's way to estand for sale!!
