    SS Belt buckel Fake ?

    Hi there

    I have posted some badges from my collection today and they have turned out to be fake , would i be pushing my luck thinking that this SS buckel is origanal ?

            Yes Mark, you are since this buckle is no more no less than a fake "OLT" (old fake originating from England) where the marking has been ground off.

            The nasty job on the catch is not a repair. They were sold on the market like that.

            Post other items tomorrow if luck is your concern ...

              Yes.
              Thats a bad fake. There is loads of that type with typical bright rust color.
              They use steel of bad quality and acid to rush the aging.
              Here is one of my steel buckles. Note the difference in details to your buckle.

              Mauser.
              Dont give up. You will find a good buckle im sure.

                I thought it was too cheap

                Hi guys thanks for your views, I took a reckless gamble and I lost oh well it was only £30 so it’s not the end of the world. I must admit the piece has been aged quite well, except for the red rust on the back which gives the quality of the steel away. The Clasp is crudely done which made me think that this was done as a repair. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>
