Should be . I still do not have any indicator about this marking been reproduced (yet) but instead I have records of this marking (not same year though) on other 100% original SS leather belts for officers. So ...

I have to step back a bit: please read my reply
      http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=384311
which now makes me wonder and no longer very confident to give a potential but rather a ... Two at the same moment, both coming from the same continent, same 38 date I did not record before and one mounted with a convincing fake... I do not like at all this since reproduced SS markings are now the latest fashion ... But it also could be coincidential (maybe ...)

        hello JP,

yes, it looks more or less the same markings although the belt I had here was more worn than this. There is not much I can add here because I have never seen a genuine SS belt with 100% correct markings. It strikes also that the alloy hook is again here made by OLC.
For the record, the one I posted here came from northern Italy.

On one hand Overhoff (oLc) was a major maker for such fittings. On the other hand belt makers were NOT always using the same fittings supplier. So, any coincidential could be possible.
But another thing on the marking did not please me at all now that I was able to see two of them and compare to each other

Please forgive me but this is the kind of question I never answer since it is just what fakers are waiting for to improve their production ...

You're right. But you could answer by PM
I am indeed not a faker and the reason why I posted is to create a reference database and to learn and let other people to learn.
My original plan since the owner did not want to separate the belt from the buckle was to keep the belt and sell the buckle. This time I was lucky because I did not find it at a market or abroad... otherwise this would have stung me badly, for sure.

I never said you were a faker. But any human likes to talk, and unfortunately humans are always ending up talking too much ... Ten years helping collectors to avoid fakes taught me that lesson ... In other words, do not expect me to change.
So, now I prefer to say: If you do not know perfectly subject A, do not venture in buying any A (I personnaly do not have any knowledge in SS cufftitles and I can guarantee I will never buy one - help or not).
I just prefer to be worry than sorry ... I no longer have tears in my wallet

I agree with you on the 2nd point but I have a different opinion on the first statement.
With the same logic, why sharing with others our pictures and items? Better keep them for ourselves, with our knowledge and well protected from the other human beings and fakers. I'll think twice before posting from now on, you enlightened me
Of course, it's just my 2 cents.

The best option is to post originals, post fakes and let future readers find differences by themselves. I call it education and many is already available. On the other hand if they do prefer been constantly assisted rather than taking time to learn (which I agree is a long process) I unfortunately have to say we are not finding Mother Theresa's at every street corner.

I quote you on last post, here we are perfectly in agreement.

Before posting the belt I searched the forum, but could not find any good belt (at least with the search function) and all those I found in the posts were very different and more loudly fakes.
I am still appealed by the look and feeling of the belt I posted, that is why I was trying to understand which bells I should have heard ringing with it.
That said, I will steer back to the known road and leave the SS stuff only to the initiated guys

You did the very right thing and it is not guaranteed (yet) the belt is a fake. I also know you would not have find another VA413/xx SS belt in this forum since I know for a fact it was never posted before. But today we have two at the same moment and future readers will (maybe) read those threads. So you did all good

                          Good weekend!

I "mostly" agree since the latest batch of fake SS buckles is really well done. Fakers are a new generation of fakers, who decided to learn the most they can to produce the perfect copy. Too much money is now paid for SS buckles and sales of such fakes are bringing rivers of cash.
For Fake SS belt, it is even easier: they just have to duplicate the marking and stamp an original leather. At current moment very few original markings are not duplicated (or at least I do not have evidence they were). And for the new ones getting out of the woods (like the above) their owner can just cross their fingers until further evidence ... Same concept as buying an expensive lottery ticket
