As a note GWL never produced SS officer buckles (at least to my knowledge)

Hi Ric,,,,,,where did you see that GWL didnt make them?,, I have showed to 2 other people and they say its good,,,,,and besides I have had for about 11 yrs,,,,I bought from a Nebraska,,USA dealer,,I believe hes still around,,so I cant pass on it,,,,,,so I too have read books and articals,,that dont mention GWL,,so maybe it was made late in the war,,its zinc and conforms to all the measurments and details,,,,it shows the age,,,sorta talks to you ya,,,,thanks Greg

my statement is not only based on my opinion, that's the SS specialized collectors consensus : may be they will add more.

This fake appeared in the USA in the late 70's. At its introduction it was sold @ 5 USD. Quickly, since it was the best fake to date (for the 70's) several rotten dealers saw an opportunity to do not sell it as a fake but instead to propose it as an original and rip collectors off. This fake remained one of the most convincing reproduction until the late 90's.
It is not surprising to find some collectors and dealers taking this fake for an original since its construction "looks like" the well known original made by Emil Juttner. But it just "looks like" ...
