    HJ - 2 buckles, 1 maker

    Hi guys,
I have been wondering about these buckles for a while. Same maker, but different materials and details.
Let me know if you see anything that I should be concerned about.

I don't have a problem w/the maker as one is an earlier buckle and the other a late war production. With that said both buckles have some things that are odd. Does not make them bad- well maybe- but some questions get raised. Top buckle- maker stamping are facing in not out. Not a big thing; maybe the buckle went into the die backwards. I don't like the catch just does not look right. bottom buckle. I have never seen this syle of construction on an HJ where the buckle edges do not bend over at the prong bar- this const. is usually associated w/comm. buckles or 35 mm buckles. The prong bar const. is also very different from the norm a one piece const. never seen on an HJ before even late ones. It would be good to hear from other members with experience in HJ buckles. Marc or?I have owned over 15 HJ's of all years and production types and have never seen these before. Which of course does not make them bad. Just raises some questions.

Not a problem Bill, I have been wondering about them myself. Thanks for your input.

Just got a digi camera for x-mas and so I am adding a couple more photo's of my buckles to try to show the areas of concern a bit better.

I have done some searching on the net and this does not appear to be a rare maker so I am hoping that someone will have experience with either of these buckles.

        Cheers,

        Steve

Sorry for the inconvenience... I am using a free image host and have a very limited bandwidth allowance . If anyone wants the photo's I can email them to you.

            Cheers,

              Hello Steve,

I had the chance to see the picture of the zinc buckle. I will post the picture, this will make it easier!

Marc, please take a look to your collection and tell me if you have this variant without "ears".

Maybe they left the edges straight because it makes it easier to eject the buckle from the mould.
It seems to be one of the very last constructions. Interesting & good in my eyes.
