Shiny Belt buckle!!!

Should belt buckles be really really shiny and the welded back pieces rusty?its probably a stupid question sorry .

Don't worry, there is no stupid questions. Only stupid are the ones who prefer to ignore their answers!

All depends of metal used for manufacture of the buckle in question (sometimes different metals were used on a same buckle), storage condition (moisture developping in one area and not the other like on the attached buckle), if someone cleaned/buffed the buckle front and forgot the back since it is more difficult to do so, etc... Everything remains possible, but a photo worth thousand words.
