olive green heer buckle , question ?

    hello

    I need your opinion

I have an olive green RS&S heer buckle, 1940 dated.

do you think it's only a color variant or really for DAK ?

The worn on the reverse seems to be made by the particular hook of the web belt..

and most of the RS&S 1940 buckles are feldgrau painted....

    thank you for your help

    best

    Emmanuel

Emmanuel, IMO it is just a colour variation and was not meant for just DAK use

        hello

up this post because it's not first time I saw these olive green RS&S buckle with this particular worn due to DAK belt hook..

I really think these buckles were for DAK:

do you think that in 1940, paint supply was difficult to have same paint for all the heer buckles?

do you think that RS&S could paint some buckle in olive green just for fun ? most of them are light green painted...

do you think it wasn't dangerous for RS&S for his contracts to "play" with Deutsch rigor ?

could you post pics of your RS&S 1940 olive green heer buckle please ?

do someone get a web belt + this buckle from vet ?

        thank you

        best

        Emmanuel

Heer buckles from different manufacturers have different shades of green. Some are looking more dark / feldgrau, others are looking more light /green.

The R S & S buckles have a light green shade that differs a lot from others.

That's why they are often advertised as DAK but IMO they are not.

Happy new year, by the way.

bonne année Simon, pleine de trouvailles

I know that each maker used different green but here it's the case of RS&S only in 1940..

most of these RS&S 1940 are light green painted...

so why some scarce ones with this special olive green color

            Emmanuel

here are pics of standart green RS&S 1940..

Here's one of my buckles. The green is seen best on the reverse.

I am in agreement with those who believe that the paint shade is not an indication of intended DAK issue; I further believe that "true" tropical issue buckles have web tabs. You will also find buckles with web tabs that are painted in dark feldgrau, would you then say that those were intended for continental use? I think not. You will of course come across veteran sourced DAK belt sets with leather tabs but I think those were put together as a practical solution to supply difficulties. (IMO)

                        Hi Emmanuel,

You're right these olive-green RS&S buckle are often advertized as DAK uckle but I think it's only a colour variation.

Here is my olive-green colour RS&S buckle.

                        Best regards,

                        Phil.
