    H. Aurich Luftwaffe buckles

I just noticed that my '40 to '42 tabbed Aurich Luftwaffe buckles are marked with a "H" laying on its side over the "A".

I also just noticed that my tropical Aurich (no tab) has only the "A" marking. The only other Aurich Luftwaffe tropical buckle I have seen is the same way.

Did Aurich change their marking after 1942?

Assuming the non-tabbed tropical was made after 1942.

    Other thoughts?

Wow! What an eye...I never noticed the second marking...here is one I have with the second marking that is very light having a 1942 dated tab.

I actually believe it to be pretty much the same marking, but for whatever reason (weak strike, weak detail etc) it comes out looking lighter and different on the buckle in the second location and as far as I know Aurich did not change their logo.

                        Hi Willi,

Same die used through out the war, wear to die results in less detail to the wreath, eagle, and the mark.

                        Glad you like them Ric.

I looked at the tropical "A" under a strong loupe and agree with both Johns. It does appear to be the same; just a worn and weak strike.
