    Police buckle tab question

Hey everyone, have any of you ever encountered the leather tab on a buckle being sewn backwards as this one is?

I didn't notice it at first and I showed it to a friend of mine and he picked up on it right away. Just thought I put this out there for discussion

            Inside out

            Hello all,
Just my opinion, but having seen a number of police buckles with the oversize leather "inside out," I have come to the conclusion that it was done so on purpose to add extra protection to the uniform --- the soft, untreated side next to the uniform to minimize wear. My example (since sold) was also a J. Feix buckle. It would be interesting to see any similar examples from other makers.
