            Thank you JPhilip
Is someone can tell me more about the marking .
Is it for 140 regiment ?
what the rest of the marking stand for ?
Is this a scarce buckle ?
            value ?
            Thanks,
            Martin.

104 Reg. First battalion, second company. (Coming from second battalion 5 Th Company)
              <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>
Buckle made by Osang as most of these buckles.
This buckle is a pre war buckle. Probably around the turn of the century.
Saxony buckles like the one shown are almost always regiment marked.
They are an interesting collection on their own.
Lots of French WWI collectors collect the WWI buckles by unit. It is a lot of fun finding out where such and such unit has been fighting.
Some regiment markings are very desirable.
For example the ones who where stationed in your home town, the ones fighting in Verdun,... etc...
These buckles are not really scarce YET.... but there value is not going down....

              Nice buckle.

                  Hello Martin,

may you please take some close-ups of the prongs arrangement ?

The post prongs assembly in one piece looks familiar, what about David ?

                  Best

A splendid Saxony buckle and it is good to see that you have been provided with the information that you were seeking.

As Ric has eluded, the unusual pin and claw arrangement has loose similarities to an SA buckle, previously shown and discussed within the forum. It was a type of pin and claw that I had never seen before on an SA and actually, I initially thought that it was a post 1945 replacement.

With the help of Ric, I was able to secure one of these SA's and it would appear that the exact detail roundel design is quite specific to the exact construction of the buckle.

                    Regards,

                    David
