                David,

Nice buckles and nearly dupes of mine. Angolia lists the top one of yours and mine as AAD not FAD. What do you say? In ether case it is an extreemely tough variation find.

To be perfectly honest, I think that the buckle that you refer to is a variation FAD - no more and no less.

I agree with you however that it is now a somewhat difficult one to find.

Bill - any possibility of an individual image of the FAD buckle that you hold, displaying the pick axe on the roundel ?

                      Regards,

                      David

                        FAD steel

                        David,
Thanks very much for posting the pic of the Assmann catalog steel FAD buckle, which is identical in design to the nickel version except that it is not pebbled outside the roundel and is painted field gray. The simple but powerful FAD design is a prime candidate for a "desert island" buckle in my humble opinion.

Here are images of an FAD which were posted on the forum, back in November 2008. It is a ""standard" Assmann FAD, although as to whether the swastika was applied pre 1945 or post 1945, is really any persons guess.

                          Regards,

                          David
