Hello,

The arms look like those for Freistaat Thüringen (the free state of Thuringia). This coat of arms was introduced in 1933, after the Nazis came to power. It was a completely new design, replacing the rather simpler version introduced in 1921, that one showing seven silver stars on a blue background, representing the seven formerly independent duchies and principalities the newly created free state was made up of. What is puzzling, however, is that the lion ought to have broad horizontal stripes to it, which are clearly missing on your example.

Your belt could be for either the Thüringen fire brigade or the forestry service (see illustrations in the Assmann catalogue), of the pattern introduced in 1934.

Regulations stipulate the fire buckle to be burnished black, but gold and silver colour buckles do exist. The forestry buckle came in either burnished or gold, depending on the dress order.

Aluminium versions do exist for both the forestry and fire buckles, but the omission of the horizontal stripes to the lion is hard to fathom. Very unlikely that a manufacturer would have made that mistake at the time.
