I was going through old threads looking at all the previous postings on black box DJ buckles, but there was not one thread which was strictly devoted to the black DJ. We know very little about these buckles. We do know they did exist and were worn as there are period photographs to substantiate this. What we dont know is the purpose of the black color. I am unaware of any regulation which specifies the intended use or purpose of these enigmatic buckles. They are quite rare..just as a reference , I have owned well over 200 DJ buckles during my collecting. I have purchased every black DJ I have ever encountered and I think that number is at 10. When was the last time you saw one for sale??
here are pics of the black DJ buckles that reside in my collection. Please post your black DJ in this thread and lets see if we can come up with some more variations of design or makers.
