SS Alloy Buckle RZM 36/39 SS

    Hi all,

got this buckle several years back and have been going through the collection and wanting to get confirmation on the stuff that has a "?" over it. I've never had a problem as the detail on it is amazing but with more reading on them and a friend's concerns on it, I want to be certain on it.

Here it is. Couldn't get a clear pic of the markings as they are under the prong hinge.

    Thanks in advance
    Mark

Maybe it's the lighting but in the first pic - there looks to be a lack of detail, especially with the first "e" in Meine....also an SS with tab? Any markings on the tab....I've heard that this was done but not very often. I'd love to hear from the SS buckle pros on this one......I will never pretend to be an SS buckle guru!

            Cheers!

              Tab

Here's the tab.... the stamping seems very crisp for it's age

                  Detail on buckle

Sorry guys but it is the lighting. I took 95 pics and these are the best of it. The detail on the front back is superb as a few of my friends are on this forum and have seen it in person.

When viewed from the side the swastika sits significally higher than the wreath it is in as well.

That's right.. some soldiers had fixed leather by themselves on the buckles..

but this Assmann Leather tab is a well known copy.. no Assmann stamp had had the year in the circle..

The buckle IMO looks like a molded repro..

                          Hello Mark,

I'm sorry to give you bad news : the buckle is a molded repro
Both the obverse and reverse show sign of a modern casting.

                          Regards

                          Ric

Hey Macca, sorry for the news mate, these points are all the ones that led myself and Bill to believe it was bad, as well as the size difference. Better to know than to not, but all is not bad, you just made a good profit on your parka mate regards, John.
