A trio of "slightly unusual" Stahlhelmbund buckles

Here is a trio of what I think are perhaps slightly unusual Stahlhelmbund or Der Stahlhelm buckles.

Bereft of the "Der Stahlhelm" declaration logo of course and also, the slightly eccentric designs to the helmets are of some note. In addition, two of the buckles have a somewhat unusual form of construction.

    Regards,

    David

              - very very nice ones, David ! What a great field of buckles. The first one looks like an Assmann to me, what do you think ?

Cheers and happy christmas - NortonI

                David!

As my penchants changed a little bit in the meanwhile, I am always happy to see new variants of these buckles and I think quite a lot of unknown variants are still out there.

My favourite buckle is of course No. 2, wich shows a rare 3-piece construction and a super design. I like also the distinct box, wich is often to find together with political Weimar buckles.

The following Der Stahlhelm buckle is maybe a good addition to this thread.

                Best regards,

                Guido

                    great buckels as always!
the last one is most interesting to me. I love the unusual tabs and soldering as well as the fact that the prong is directly brazed to the prong sleeve. I have an HJ or 2 that bear the same prong manufacturing, and I think you may have a few SA as well if memory serves me ( a possible manufacturing trait , if we could only fid a marked example)... thanks for sharing

Thankyou for the response in relation to this thread chaps and still, new and variation Stahlhelmbund buckles regularly appear by both interesting designs and methods of construction.

The first buckle is a rare variant by the design of the roundel and I know that one similar, appears within the Assmann catalogue. Even though Assmann obviously produced this buckle, I do not know if this design was exclusive to the company. As such, I think that it is impossible to say who actually manufactured the buckle that is shown here.

Splendid Stahlhelmbund buckle that you have posted and this one is a "first" for me. The Forum knows this quite specific and special roundel very well, insofar as having being discussed on many occasions. It however the first time that I have seen this roundel mounted on a nickle silver plated brass box. Usually it is seen on a brass box. The second buckle that I posted is not the only three piece Stahlhelmbund buckle known. Attached is another three section Stahlhelmbund buckle, however in my opinion, a pure fantasy item from the 1960's.

                      Regards,

                      David

I think that in relative terms, it is more common to see this type of pin and claw arrangement on SA's, than HJ's. I will have a look through some of the SA's that I hold and which have this distinct claw to pin arrangement and see if there is any other common denominator. Perhaps you may be able to see one when compared to your HJ's.

The roundel attachment arrangement is however to myself more interesting. Attached are images of a Bismarckbund buckle with a quite similar device, although a quite different pin shroud an claw arrangement.

                          Regards,

                          David
