FS / Frei Korps Sudentenland Belt Buckle

I did a search and found nothing conclusive on this buckle in terms of originality, but having just taken the gamble and bought one I wonder how it compares to examples in your collections? Comments would be appreciated!

    Thank you

This looks exactly like the one that was recently offered on eBay but did not meet the reserve, Is it the same buckle? These buckles are somewhat of an enigma. Are they authentic? It depends on who you talk to . There was a thread on these on the Forum a while ago with numerous photos of various FS buckles including mine. Nearly all of these buckles appear to be un-issued which raises some questions. The prong bars also vary in shape. Yours appears to be either zinc coated or painted with a thin coat of grey paint. Normally they are bright nickel. Sorry this does not fully answer your questions. Hopefully soem other members will chime in on this.

Thank you for the reply Bill. I'm new here, but having checked all of the previous threads on these recently I had seen that the general consensus is

As for ebay it is indeed the very same one. I made an enquiry when it was listed and made an offer and was told to check back if it didn't sell at the reserve (which I was sure it wouldn't). We made a deal and it is currently on route to me. I have an inspection window but to be honest as no one seems to know I'll probably just keep it as I knew the score beforehand and didn't pay enough to make it a unreasonable punt. The others that I have found that are for sale (and in a condition worth having!) look exactly like this one and are priced between $250-$300. All offered as originals, although we know the score there. I just need another belt fot it now as per my other post as it would appear that this is one question that will continue to go unanswered for now

Hello I saw a box full of these buckles a the Max Show. The dealer had boxes of buttons, pips, rolls of ribbon ect. These buckle didn't interest me but the were cheap. maybe someone else remembers the price. Kirby

            Where these things came from

A "hoard" of these buckles were allegedly dug up in Czech republic. The dealer selling these has cleaned and broken ones for sale. He has a few that still have the grime and dirt. If you ask him, he will actually show you the photo when the case was dug up. They have been on the market in some quantity from this guy since 2005. They are made just like Czech army buckles of the pre-war period.
