SS Officer belt buckle, fake - artificial patina

    Dear Friends,

I am far from being expert with belt buckles, but this one - even high in quality has so visible artificial patina that I can say it can not be good.

You can almost see how the liquid has been painted on this...

Since this has been purchased as original by my customer and I need to write statement for court - can you provide any information regarding the origins of this type of buckle?

Are there original buckles made by this company? I did not find anything from internet.

I don't know where it comes from, but the details of the obverse are wrong when compared to any known SS Leaders' buckle, and the markings on the reverse appear to be raised instead of stamped in, which is also unlike originals. Lastly, the claw is poorly soldered to the sleeve instead of being mounted into and through the sleeve, and the claws appear to be too short and incorrectly formed.

It IS a fake which is well known among SS buckles collectors. European origin, most likely from Great Britain.
