different dates on buckle and tab..

can you show some examples of buckles which have not the same marking of the year on the buckle itself and on the leather tab, please ..

is it possible to have the opposite, 41 on buckle and 40 on the tab ?

is the marking on the tab was applied after the entire building of the buckle , so was the final phase ?

Or already marking tabs could be stitched to the buckles ?

I would surmise it's a marriage that occured not long into 1941, utilizing remaining parts from 1940 and early 1941 ones?.....I wouldn't think that is unusual at all.....Beautiful belt buckle by the way!!!....Bodes
