Schlange - Very nice early Police buckle

Great thread and very educational! Thanks everyone for posting.

Just went through this thread for a second time and I have some questions which I hope someone will answer.

              1. Can one assume that any maker produced buckles for all these three police branches: Feuer, Wasser and other Polizei? Or are there some that just produced f.e. Wasserpolizei buckles?
              2. I noticed that that there are makers (f.e. J.F.S., C.T.D. and OCL) which marked their buckles with their logo sometimes on the left hand side of the reverse and sometimes inside the reverse of the Swastika. Can this variation of logo location be observed among other makers as well? If so, which ones?
              3. Are these buckles maker specific enough on the obverse that one could determine the maker by just looking at the obverse or is the obverse too generic for all specific makers to do so?
              4. Same question as the previous one (3) but now for the reverse (obviously without looking at the maker logo)?
              5. Are there any maker marked Pol buckles that have been fairly well faked and on the market in greater numbers? If so, with which maker marked ones do you need to be extra carefull not to end up with a fake?
              6. When were steel buckles introduced and are these found with tabs as well?
              7. Does one encounter steel buckles from all the same makers of aluminium buckles or were these steel buckles limited to specific makers or even different ones from those that produced alu buckles?

              Thanks guys!

              Cheers, Tom

I have only seen Water/Traffic Police buckles from Dransfeld, Overhoff, Assmann, Fredrich Linden, Gustav Brehmer in aluminum and only CTD in steel. Examples of all of them with tabs exist. Lots of other companies produced police buckles that weren’t Gold finished. Most Fire Police buckles are unmarked 4 tab private purchase buckles. I would need to research what companies made regular Fire Police.

All the steel buckle I have owned were unmarked except CTD .

You can find the fake Police buckles in the Sticky threads.

Thanks for your help klr! Much appreciated.

I should have said earlier that my interest is in buckles used by the Schupo. With that in mind I asked my first question. I am therefore not so much interested to know which companies produced Wasser and Feuer Police buckles, but want to know if the companies that produced Feuer and Wasser buckles shown in this thread also produced the type of buckle used by the Schupo. In some cases this is clear as in the thread there are more than one type shown from the same maker, but in other cases only a Feuer/Wasser is shown and not the type used by the Schupo.

As for the fakes being in the sticky thread, I only find 5 Police examples there of which only one has a company logo (JMO) - if the fake sticky thread contains all known fakes that would mean all maker marked police buckles other than marked JMO can be bought without any risk of buying a fake. If that is the case fantastic as that would make life really simple - but somehow I doubt it is that easy. There must be more maker marked fakes out there than the JMO one. Or not?

Most of the Police fakes aren’t hard to detect. Buy one with a matching tab and it is most likely good.
