I agree with your sentiments with regard to the design of these two particular buckles, although I have seen a fair share of the same in a somewhat "tired and distressed condition".

Towards the SA Wehrmannschaft - did you ever glean any more information with regard to the type with a clear casting defect on the wing and towards which you have earlier identified. A batch fault or a potential fake?

          Regards,

          David

            Hello David,

I know now two variants of fakes. One is very simple made, very dark metal and obviously casted.
The other one is the one which I posted. I saw it 4 or 5 times, maybe a few times more, but when the picture is not good enough, it is hard to make it sure.

Please help me, what do you mean with "clear casting defect on the wing"?

            Regards,
            Christian

              SA Wehrmannschaft

              Hello Christian

JP was good enough to remind me recently of a post started by Marc in August 2002 and towards which yourself and others had contributed.

I had forgotten that this buckle was now faked !

Marc had submitted a super series of images and which included the obverse to some, showing most interestingly, a flaw or defect to one of the wings. In addition, the reverse image clearly showing a common flaw.

I read the post as showing original buckles, although in view of the image that you posted via JP, I wondered if Marc and yourself had further researched the question of fake Wehrmannschaft?

              Regards,

              David
