Hello François,
Can’t make up my mint, this maker is wildly faked. It’s the color of the back I don’t like, but as I am not home I can not look for references in my collection. Will look more closely when back in Belgium.
Marc
I have a bad feeling about your buckle, I think(!) it is a fake.
The metal looks typical for the casted fakes. Especially around the marking the metal looks very strange...
Since a few years several fakes(WH, WL, police...) like this were on the market. The most common (in my opinion) is the DRK fake. Take a look to the picture, you can see a similar kind of aluminium.
Regards,
Christian
P.S. If somebody is interested, F.R. means "Franz Reischauer" in Oberstein.
I am confused here.... any proof as to whether this IS fake or not?
So FRs are faked...are there originals to?
The colour ?? aluminium colour with some easy to wash off dirt....
A red cross buckle as comparison?
Come on guys, is there nothing concrete on this piece? Looks like one of a dozen hard worn buckles you could see at a show.....
Hello guys, Sorry for this very late reaction to this post, I must admit that I completely forgot about it.
Look at the above pictures Chris and you will understand the hesitation.
Both above LW buckles, first and second models are FAKE.
The Red Cross buckle Christian posted is also 100% fake.
When comparing the FR 39 buckle with the two illustrated fake LW buckles there is more than one reason to be careful what to answer about the originality of the FR 39.
FR 39 buckle could be original, I really believe there is a good chance it is good, but I will not say this with 100% confidence, as I don’t like the colour of the back on the picture. The two buckles I present in above and under pictures have fooled many collectors.
Marc
Okay, but still confused.
So far.... the 2 fakes pictured are totally different to the FR buckle.
There are fake FR buckles like the red cross one, but there are fake GWL PO badges, does not mean all GWL PO are fake.
Other than the colour...where are we with the buckle?
