Lovely buckle, one of my favourite designs. They sometimes have leather tabs, but I have never seen a makers mark on them. It would be interesting to know what firms made them. There can be slight variations in the Arabic script on the roundel, which I believe translates to "Soldier of God". Local Turkish-made buckles are usually sand-cast, crude affairs. In period pictures, there are a variety of buckles worn.
