    Luftschutzbund buckle

    Hello colleagues.
Recently has bought this buckle. A condition mint. Painting brightly grey. But the contour of an emblem has more light shade. There can be a paint was too liquid and has spread on a contour.
    How you think, why???

        Hello Vladimir,

sorry, no idea about the paint, you explanation sounds logical to me.
Compared with my copy, mine has a different catch and mine is used. Maybe yours
is a late version and thats why it has not been used ? Just wonder.

        Cheers
        Norton I

A super SHD buckle, however perhaps it is not wholly what it appears. I actually think that the obverse of the buckle at least, has been partially repainted or retouched and the trace around the emblem, is a left over trace or shadow from the masking. Attached are images of another R S & S SHD buckle. Exactly the same box to include the feint R on the stamped in logo, however a slightly different catch and a very different pin shroud.

If you look at the emblems of the two buckles, you will see that odd areas to yours lacks certain details.

          Regards,

          David

                  Thanks for the answer David.
You mean buckle is recoloured completely???
I have closely examined buckle, a shade of a paint in front and behind identical. What benefit to the seller paint buckle if ideal is primary. First it is difficult to pick up an authentic shade of a paint, in the second it is possible to spoil buckle wrong painting.
I want to pay attention, a paint which use a fake it is easily used up, but on this bucklevery qualitative covering.
Probably it is a spoilage in production whether or not???
                  David, excuse for my English.

Firstly, please do not apologise about your English. We are a truly international forum, although where English is the elected language for all our correspondence. We all appreciate that for many, English is not the Mother tongue of the forum member and really, it does not matter one little bit. The positive contribution is the critically important element, not the command of an otherwise alien language.

I really would like to see this buckle in the flesh, however if I had to make a guess, I would say that overwhelmingly, the buckle has been repainted. If you look at the reverse of the buckle in particular, you will see in parts a mottling effect and which is a possible indication of a modern cellulose paint. I think that the emblem has been masked and then, the buckle has been spray painted. Perhaps then the masking has been removed in order that the emblem could be given a very light dusting of paint in an attempt to feather in or blend the emblem to the box.

It is the selected wear to certain highlights on the emblem which I think is the real indicator that this is not a "mint" SHD buckle.

                    Regards,
                    David

                      Thanks David.
Unfortunately the TRUTH ALWAYS ONE. Is compelled to agree with your opinion. I very carefully concern to the collection therefore this buckle there is no place in a collection.
