SS Officers Buckles Repo/Real

Have noticed that there are a number of forum members to imclude myself posting SS Officers Buckles and asking that eternal question "Is it real or Repo" - I would think that it would be a great assistance to the forum community if the saged experts or those with the knowledge could provide some insight to detecting the fakes from the repos. It seems that most repos use the OLC/SS/36/? on the reverse, would be great to start with this and go from there.
I know any help would be greatly appreciated.

The fake officer's marked as the above did exist as well as originals. The fakes are not "fakes" per se but instead reproductions of originals. Most earlier productions (1st, 2nd and so Generations as I named those in 2000) were even direct cast of an original. So, just take photos of an original 36/39 (back view is the key for this) and compare this photo to the back view of a reproduction. You will quickly notice the obvious. Then compare again each original you will find and each reproduction you will also find to your archived photos. The new original will always be very closely related to the originals and the new reproduction to the reproductions, no matter which one you could get.

Since the introduction of the die stuck reproductions (early 2001) it is a little bit harder for the novice. But once you have found the main feature it is again there on all without any distinction.

JPR _ Thank you very much for your information - I think I got it now ,as you said I reviewed the backs of both Real & Repo and saw the light,so to say. This will make the search a little safer at least with the OLC maker mark.
