      Hi Harry -

You have a DJ/HJ conversion buckle. They are not very easy to find nowadays.

great buckle..sorry for my silence, I have been out of town.. this buckle aprox dates from 1936/37 ... It is a result of he DJ buckle being phased out and and teh HJ being worn by both HJ and DJ ...Three manufaturers were allowed to retrofit existing DJ buckles with a new hJ face plate ... ( which is plated steel) you could pay a few cents to have this done instead of shelling out for a new buckle... these buckles would have only been purchased by DJ kids in a 1 year period..so they are not common ... I love these, and they are y favorite of all of the youth buckles!! could we see a close up pic of the reverse of the buckle, I think I see remnants of a mark... thanks.>Chad

Thanks Chad and everyone else for the comments. Yes, there is a faint maker mark, I'll see about posting a picture.

Here is a picture, any idea why the mark is so faint?

Harry - not a common buckle and also, quite desirable.

Difficult to identify the makers mark to yours.

Attached are images of a Paul Cramer conversion and I think that there are many similarities.

                    Regards,

                    David

Great buckles! I too wouldn't mind adding one of these to my collection some day! Sooner than later I hope!
                          Cheers!
