the cutting of the edges looks strange , with some notches..

In my opinion, there is no problem whatsoever with this Der Stahlhelm buckle.

It is a well documented design and of note, is the slightly upturned and sweeping, visor and rim to the helmet.

Attached are images of what I think is the same design, albeit with a nickle silver roundel.
