        Hi Bill,

Just wondering ... Is it normal for buckles to have portions of the back filled with excess paint like the left wing of your buckle ? Chris' buckle doesn't have this. Especially with mint buckles this makes me shiver.

        Anyone ?

I was going to wait for someone else on the formum to reply to this last thread . Since no one has I just want to say that if the heavy paint in the eagles wing is what sends "shivers" through you you obviously have not looked at very many painted buckles. Paint overruns occur-nobody is perfect-including the Germans. I have had this buckle for a long time; if it is bad -which it is not thaen the art of producing one-piece stamped aluminum buckles started a Looong time ago.

We have to keep in mind we are talking about mass production and not pieces of art even if now we are seeing those as such.

....the only thing that shivers me on JP's buckly is the etiquette on this nice super contioned bucke....
I've seen lot's of mint items nicely damaged by these glued-on "things".

JP you should be given a ticket for this....or sell me the buckle as punishment.
                Pieter.

                  Hello Pieter,
Neither the buckle, neither the photos (so neither the glued tag) are mine. As stated by Bill (Buckle 1) in his post above the photos as well as in the title of the first photo, this buckle belongs to him. I just posted Bill's photos for him since he can not (yet) do it himself.

I collect/keep/buy/trade/have interest in/ ONLY 100% Germanic SS Buckles and ... do not put anything on them but my eyes!

This is also the reason why you do not read posts from me regarding for example Flemish or Dutch SS Buckles. I do not consider those as truely "Germanic" SS Buckles even if I can be wrong to do so, and so, do not have any interest or knowledge in those.

Anyway, I can sell you this buckle on expectation basis, but don't know if it will reach you in time

                  Best Regards

                    Pieter,

You are correct about stick-on labels causing damage to the finish of items. However the ones I have been using for years have never caused any paint removal or staining. If I could locate the small snap=on tags that I have seen on some European buckles I would get them but unfortunately they are not available, that I know of in the US. Never-the- less this is a super conditiopn buckle but is not available at this time for sale or trade. JP-sorryto get you in the middle of this. I will sign up for memmbership ASAP to avoid these problems in the future.

                    Bill
