Early Luft Buckle Named To Man And Squad

    Thanks,

Don't know anything about the man except he's a Flieger (basically a Private) and his unit is the Jagdgeschwader Horst Wessel. Beautiful piece and if you'd ever like to sell or trade it, I'd like a shot at it. How does the label appear to be affixed? Glued?

Hard to belive the genuineness of this label...because the Jagdgeschwader "Horst Wessel" was formed July 1944 in Königsberg.

At this time they got steel-buckles 2nd model.

Hi Gene thanks for the information. The label is glued to the tab

                Thanks,
                Phillip

Is it not possible that a soldier is issued an older piece (whether it is a reissued piece or from an old stock)? The tag looks very nice to me, I don't have any reason to doubt it. For example, the FJs were, in some instances, issued late in the war early helmet shells and early chinstraps.

Like Gene, I personally like this buckle!

There's no doubt about the buckle and the L.B. A. stamped leather tab..Both are wonderful items.
I was only a bit astonished about that case, that a Soldier get mid 1944 a buckle which is from 1936-37..
and I've never seen before a laundry label on a leather tab.

But - and this is the main important thing- this buckle looks great.

Buckle is a very nice original, I think the label is in doubt

Great looking buckle. I have seen tags like this but not on a buckle until now. I have a DD luft helmet with the same type of tag with the same border. Interesting for sure!
Cool piece. I'd love to have something like that!
                        Cheers!

Great early buckle. I'd be interested to know if these is a unit mark stamped on the tab underneath that cloth tag?

I guess we'll never know though without removing it.

I have a Reichwehr buckle with the same kind of label pasted on the leather tab.

The buckle itself is stunning! Congratulations Philip .

This kind of label has only been fitted on soldiers hardware during pre-war/very first months of the war era.

Are you sure about the creation date of this unit?

This labels looks OK indeed, there might be a logical explanation.
