Hello Bernd,
the gray appearance of the 822/38 is not a good sign, but could it due by some cleaning agent ? Btw, traces of silver finishing are visible in the reverse recess.
About the SS officer, it's probably a repro : crimps areas lead my opinion towards that.

Well , the EM SS Buckle was a good conversation piece in- any- case over the last 10 years to whomever I showed it , --and that for $ 20 ! It does have some silver paint left in the recesses ! I have no idea , how a REPRO-MAN could have "aged" that SS-Officer's buckle that way and still have enough left to make it look that great ! Anyhow , here is an other EM SS Buckle I have for your review , it is hmkd. "RODO" -AND I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS IS TYPE 1 OR 2 ?? Thanks for any info , Bernd .Attached Files
