Value on near mint buckle "Treu Deutsch - Alle Wege"

    Hi there,

just wanted to ask for the value of a recent fleamarket find. The buckle is near mint and has pencil writing on the back (probably price) ?
What do these buckles go for ?? And what organisation is it exactly ?

    Many thanks in advance, Jens

Hi, this looks overpainted. Sorry, the nice patina got lost, as these are usually in brass. What is the value ? Good question. Do you want to sell it ? If yes, drop me a pm. Tschüs NortonI

I really would not dismiss this buckle as "over painted", in the sense that the grey paint is modern. It looks perfectly period to me and I wonder, is the box steel ? The roundel by the way to the JD-Orden buckle is one of 2, well documented designs.

Perhaps I stand to be corrected, however I am sure that the JD-Orden had a tentative "paternal" connection with Der Stahlhelm. The reason why I mention this (and which could be coincidence only), is that I have a Der Stahlhelm buckle with a similar type of "neutral and quasi military" paint.

        Regards,

        David

Cool buckle! I too would like to have one of these in my collection! At first I also thought of the overpaint given the paint over the solder of the roundel on the back. Interesting piece - that's for sure! And super nice buckles there David! Impressive!

                          Hi all,

many thanks for all the comments and the additinal pics. I can gurantee you that the buckle is not overpainted at all. The box of the buckle is steel and only the prong is brass.
I got it together with a mint imperial buckle from a housecleaning.

The imperial buckle also has a similiar stencil marking on the back just as the one shown, so I think they survived unworn and as they were purchased back in the period.

                          Bests Jens
