In my opinion, a stunning example of a very rare buckle.

Perhaps and wishing to be patronising, that it is worth remembering that the original buckle (with others), was fabricated by a simple die or tool stamping process. A steel die or tool making a clean, precise and sharp contact with malleable and receptive aluminium. Attached are images of one of the better cast fakes. If you know what you are looking for, then really for the moment, put to one side the (reduced) dimensions of these buckles. Instead, look for one of the classic fingerprints of the cast fakes - tiny raised eruptions or raised pin head points. The odd one or two do occur on original aluminium buckles due to a worn, damaged or contaminated die, however the cast fakes are riddled with them - if you know what to look for and look close enough.

      Regards,

      David
