    Questions Please, Gentlemen: Makers

I am new to buckle collecting. I have had 2 buckles, alum Heer and LW with tabs, for 30+ years and a Police that a friend brought home and later ground off the swastika. At least it was free, and the swastika still shows on the back. I have also picked up 5 in the last month with 3 more coming.
I am primarily interested in combat used buckles; Heer, SS, LW, KM, HJ, RAD.... Any others that you think could be considered worn in combat ?? TENO maybe ?
I have Angolia's 1982 book which shows many manufacturers logos and codes. Can you tell me about how many makers there were for Heer buckles ? Maybe all 24 of the logos shown in the book ? Plus some unmarked makers of course. I suppose it would be a monumental task for the Forum Leaders to compile, never mind guys !
Okay, I am asking about how many manuf. made Heer buckles. And any other ifno anyone wishes to add. Thanks to all,
    JimM

Hi Jim, this is a big question with lots of answers. there were 121 M4 makers allocated, I am trying at the moment to get an example of Heer buckles by every one of them, at this moment in time I have 32, but I have 26 Heer buckles that were not on the M4 makers list. I asked Marc Ver about different Heer makers and he has about 140 different makers. I am of the belief that some of the M4 makers never produced buckles other than sample ones, but that is my opinion, other have theirs, this is what I believe until I start seeing examples of buckles on the forums or for sale, that is what I will stick with Have a look at this link, it may give you a little more information. Have a nice Xmas, welcome to the forum and any chance of any pics of your examples

Thank You, Ben; this is very helpful. My alum one piece is JUL. MAURER OBERSTEIN/NAHE 1936, though the alum looks thicker than the M4/57 that you have pictured at warrelics.eu. My 2 piece is unmarked without the tab. Then l have 2 Heer dug in Poland, cannot see any makers logo.

What was the purpose of the tab anyway ? My Maurer is well worn, but why leave the tab on with the belt - of did they ?
Thanks, and l'll try to post pics sometime (when l figure out how).

The tab was to support the ammunition pouch, I dont really know or have worked out what support it would give, I spent 23 years in the military as a Infantry and have pondered many hours how it would work
