    silver painted heer buckle

    hello

What's your opinion on this silver painted steel heer buckle ?

Is it original paint for dress wear or it could be repainted ?
have you ever seen this type of buckle ?

I think the maker is Overhoff (eagle's head, ears, catch....)

    thank you for answer

    regards
    Emmanuel

    Hello Emmanuel,

indeed correct : it's an original buckle made by Overhoff

The purpose of silver finishing is still unknown (at least by myself).

I have come across quite a few of these and for some reason they always tend to be made by Overhoff? I wonder why

        Nice buckle Emmanuel!!
Don't think that it was repainted, but the purpose of a silver steel buckle is also unknown to me.

Ben, Dicke have also produced silver painted steel Heer buckles!

        Regards,
        Guido

          thank you.

Alu was restricted in 40 and last dress buckles was made of zinc...so product steel dress buckles in the middle war isn't illogical...

          regards
          Emmanuel
