    LW-buckle for discussion

    Hy,
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=256947
i offered this buckle on the e-stand, as these definately don't fit into anything i collect or handle normally.
As it was adviced that it should be discussed - please do so and tell me what it is wrong or not.
    Thanks Christian

    Hello Christian,

Thank you for allowing some of us to comment on this Officer's Luft buckle. As the obverse of the buckle might look authentic, the reverse shows us the immediate red flag of a well known reproduction. The "DRGM" stamp on the belt hook is the most immediate red flag as well as lack of an outer plating for the reverse.

The following photos depict the proper construction of the Officer's Luft buckle as manufactured by the Assmann Firma.

The reverse - If you look at this photo and the reverse of your buckle, you can see immediately why Ric and I were very quickly able to discern reproduction.
I hope this helps in your quest for knowledge and understanding.

        Hello Christian,

I may add that original officer LW badges are usually fixed by 2 points to the oval base, when you find 1 point probably it's a repro.

        Best

        Ric
