    Early NSDAP Jugend or...

Hey gang...I've always been under the impression that this buckle was an early NSDAP Youth buckle but have heard "rumblings" about it being an Early HJ Leader buckle. I'm thinking it's NSDAP Jugend but please let me know if I'm wrong.
In any case....this one showed up yesterday along with the M4/42 HJ buckle.
I'm quite happy with this one as these don't come up for sale often! It's a well worn example but I'm quite happy with it!

Here are a couple pics....if you do have any more information about this buckle - I'd love to hear! Thanks gang!

    Cheers!

There is also the tentative suggestion that this buckle has no NSDAP connections whatsoever. Instead, a piece of female costume jewellery which just happened to display the swastika as a decorative good luck sign.

Hi David....I think what we really need is a period picture to give us a good idea of the who and the what! I've seen these these buckles in gold as well. Nonetheless, I think it's a nice period piece. Thanks buddy!

Hey Chad....Thanks for looking into that! It would be neat to find a period pic. In regards to the actual piece, I've seen others pictured on various dealer sites but these seem to have at least one or two replaced keepers.
If you look at the two on my example, both keepers have this "break" in the middle where the wire was put together.
I've seen some pictured with one keeper like that and one being all in one piece - without that "break". I would assume it's a variant keeper or a reproduced one (they are always the keeper that can be removed - which would make it easy to "lose")

          Thanks again Chad. Cheers!

              Mine for comparison.

There is a difference in the keeper set, but not an issue in my opinion because keepers were often swapped, reversed, etc. by the wearer.

The diagonal break in the right keeper (left in this scan) is not a cut, but rather a finely machined joint that must have served some purpose.

Hey DZR....Thanks for the comparison shots. I've seen buckles like these being sold on the internet with the same type of keeper - and I think the same type is also shown in Angolia's book.
Nice example you have there. Great condition!
                  Thanks for showing!
                  Cheers!
